School Health and Safety

The School Health and Safety Program works with the staff of public and private K-12 schools. Through annual inspections, Public Health ensures safe and healthy school buildings and grounds for students. Each school facility is inspected using the Health and Safety Guide for K-12 Schools in Washington.

Staff also reviews plans for the construction of new, remodeled or expanded school buildings and play areas to ensure their consistency with state requirements.  Complaints from teachers, staff, parents or children concerning school health and safety issues are investigated by Public Health staff.
