To prevent contamination of the aquifer and at the well, wells should be properly sited and constructed, regularly inspected and maintained, and the area around the well(s) should be protected. The protection zone around the well should be 100 feet in every direction.
Inspect & protect:
Check for cracks or leaks in the cap, seal, and around the casing, and repair if found
Ensure the vent screen is intact
Test water quality regularly AND if there are any changes in taste, color, or odor
