Kettles Trails

Popular with hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers.  Fascinating glacial terrain.  Adjacent to Fort Ebey State Park.  There are several access points off of SR 20 just north of Coupeville and from Fort Ebey State Park.  Paved trails connect to Coupeville and Rhododendron County Park.  

With over 30 miles of trails winding up and down glacial kettles and through nearly 900 acres of dense forest, it's easy to get misoriented.  Grab a map from the links to the right.

Barnum Point

Island County's newest park includes 166 acres of trails, beach access, and great views.

Four Springs

585 Lewis Ln, Camano Island

Four Springs Preserve on central Camano Island includes a picnic area and trails for free public day use.  Four Springs House and grounds is available for rental for weddings, meetings, and other events.  Visit the Four Springs House web site for more information.

Freeland Park

Boat Ramp and Dock (for non-commercial use only) , Picnic Area w/BBQ’s, Covered Picnic Shelter, New Pavilion w/ Picnic Tables and BBQ Grill, Restrooms, Playground, Walking Trails, Clamming (when in season).

Maxwelton Park

7490 Maxwelton Rd, Clinton

Playground, Restroom Facility Including Shower and Dog Wash, Beach Access, Ballfield & Grandstand, 3 Picnic Shelters & BBQ’s for individual events, Group Picnic Shelter Area with Brick Stove BBQ, Concession Stand (Water/Electric available). Views of Shipping Lanes, Olympic Mountains, and Kitsap Peninsula.  Can Be Reserved: Call Island County Parks to Make a Reservation 360 679 7331.

Note that the boat ramp (for non-commercial use only) is currently closed due to buildup of sand. 

Iverson Preserve

3 Iverson Rd, Camano Island

Directions: From Terry’s Corner drive 1 mile on East Camano Drive to Russell road. Turn left on Russell, to Sunrise Blvd. Turn right on Sunrise then left to Iverson Road. Follow Iverson past the plat of Long Beach to cul-de- sac. 

120 acres with Beach access; Limited parking; Trails; Views of Cascades, Port Susan, Livingston Bay, Stillaguamish River, Swinomish Slough.

Putney Woods

4577 Lone Lake Rd, Langley

600 acres of trails for hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers.   Car and Trailer Parking, Year Round Portable Toilet, Trails, Hunting (in season).

Rhododendron Park and Campground

Park: 502 W Patmore Rd, Coupeville

3 Athletic Fields, Full Service Restrooms, Picnic Area, Playground, Picnic Shelter with BBQ, Connection to Rhododendron Park Trails and nearby campground. 185 acres, plus 27 acres of off-leash park across Patmore Rd.  

Campground: 20265 SR 20, Coupeville

15 Pay Campsites, including 3 RV sites (water only, no dump or electricity facilities).  All sites are first come, first served - no reservations.  Vault Toilets, BBQ’s, Picnic Tables, Fireplace Rings, Fresh Water, Connection to Rhododendron Park Trails and nearby Athletic Fields.
