September Preparedness Fair
When disaster strikes, will you know how to survive?
September is National Preparedness month, and Island County Emergency Management has joined with many of our local and regional partners to host the Preparedness Fair.
All of the booths at this event will provide important information on being prepared for a disaster. Join us to learn valuable skills, win a prize, and prepare your loved ones for a disaster.
This is a FREE event for all ages.

Island County GIS | ICGeoMap is our most comprehensive web mapping resource. Learn how to navigate our maps and Where are my Hazards tool with our GIS Team. |
Island County Public Health | The Public Health Department promotes the health and well-being of our unique island communities. We monitor and regulate key environmental factors including contaminants, sewage systems, and water quality. Public Health will discuss hygiene in a disaster and continuing to feed your baby in a disaster. |
Island County Sheriff and Chaplains | It is the mission of the Island County Sheriff's Office to provide unbiased, community-oriented police services in order to maintain and enhance Island County's reputation as a safe, thriving community where residents and visitors can safely live, work, and visit. |
Island County CERT | The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. |
Island County Auxiliary Communication Service | Communication when all else fails. Learn about the various ways to communicate following a disaster. |
Go Bags | A booth all about creating a go bag. Share your favorite items and learn about great items to add. |
Puget Sound Energy | PSE provides energy service to Whidbey Island. They will discuss what to do when the power goes out. |
Whidbey Animals' Improvement Foundation | WAIF’s Mission is to protect companion animals, provide compassionate care, advocate for their welfare and positively promote the human-animal connection. WAIF will provide information on emergency planning for pets. |
Department of Natural Resources | Manage, sustain, and protect the health and productivity of Washington’s lands and waters to meet the needs of present and future generations. DNR will provide information on geological hazards to Island County. |
Whidbey Health EMS | When emergencies happen, our team of skilled paramedics and EMTs are standing by 24/7 to respond when and where you need us. EMS will be providing demonstrations on basic first aid. |
Oak Harbor Fire Department | Oak Harbor Fire Department (OHFD) provides fire protection, basic rescue, and first responder medical services to the City of Oak Harbor, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from Fire Station 81. OHFD will be providing demonstrations on hands only CPR. |

Country Store will provide information on natural gas safety and preparedness items. |

Whidbey Conservation District | Conservation Districts are the community hub that bring people and resources together through voluntary, locally led conservation to ensure a healthy and sustainable future. Learn about native plants and keeping your land safe. |
