Board of Equalization
The Island County Board of Equalization, or BOE, is an independent body organized to adjudicate appeals of various determinations from the County Assessor’s Office.

Board of Health
The Board of Health meets monthly to consider policies to improve the health and safety of Island County residents and visitors, and to address issues presented by Island County Public Health staff and point presentations.

Civil Service Commission
The general purpose of Civil Service is to establish a merit system of employment for county deputy sheriffs and other employees of the office of county sheriff, thereby raising the standards and efficiency of such offices and law enforcement in general.

Community Health Advisory Board
The Community Health Advisory Board makes recommendations to the board in matters concerning public health.

Council of Governments
Elected officials from Island County, the City of Oak Harbor, City of Langley, Town of Coupeville and the port districts of Coupeville and South Whidbey meet as the Island County Council of Governments.

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee approves Island County investment policy and debt policy, and establishes rules for deposit of funds in designated financial institutions and investment of funds where appropriate.

Housing Advisory Board
The Housing Advisory Board reviews Requests for Proposals, Homeless Housing Plan updates and makes funding recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.

Noxious Weed Control Board
The Island County Noxious Weed Control Board implements laws and guidelines of the RCW 17.10 and WAC 16-750.

The Planning Commission makes recommendations to the Board in matters concerning growth and development as authorized in the Planning Enabling Act.

Veterans Advisory Board
The Island County Veterans Advisory Board advises county legislative authorities on the needs of local and indigent veterans, resources available locally for veterans, and programs that could benefit the needs of veterans and their families.
